1 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 17 sorties, 4.6 flight hours, carrying 20 troops/passengers, in support of 3rdMarDiv.  Mission 62. with two aircraft flew 8 sorties, 1.2 flight hours, carrying 9 troops/passengers, making one recon extract at YD777114.  Enemy fire was received at 011630H at coordinates YD776117 with no hits received, and 200 rounds of 7.62mm fire returned.  Two recon extractions were made this date.

2 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 54 sorties, 23.3 flight hours, carrying 111 troops/passengers, 15.4 tons of cargo with three medevac missions carrying 2 emergency and 1 routine evacuees in support of 3rdMarDiv and III MAF.  One recon insertion was made at YD848086, one at YD535335, one at YD584233, and one at YD415353.  One recon extraction was made at YD483263, and one emergency extraction was called for by Team Tarzan at YD556228, but upon arrival of the extract aircraft they found 6 KIAs.

3 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 35 sorties, 9.9 flight hours, carrying 13 troops/passengers,
11.6 tons of cargo, with one medevac mission carrying two routine evacuees in support of 3rdMarDiv and III MAF.

4 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 87 sorties, 60.5 flight hours, carrying 269 troops/passengers, 31.1 tons of cargo, making one recon extraction, and carrying 6 KIAs in support of 3rdMarDiv.

6 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 46 sorties, 21.5 flight hours, carrying 129 troops/passen- gers and 1.0 tons of cargo in support of III MAF and 3rdMarDiv.  Mission 81/66 flew 4 recon inserts at the following coordinates: YD618253, YD527327, YD435314, and YD455257, with one recon extract made at YD736096; all inserts were prepped by fixed wing and no enemy fire was received.

7 Jan 68:  HMM-364 aircraft flew 61 sorties, 19.9 flight hours, carrying 73 troops/passengers, 3.9 tons of cargo, with 14 medevac missions carrying 46 emergency, 30 priority and three routine evacuees with one KIA in support of III MAF and 3rdMarDiv.  Mission 55E with one aircraft flew 8 sorties, 2.7 flight hours, carrying 27 emergency and 30 priority evacuees in support of 3rdMarDiv.  Mortar fire was received in the zone at ZD097006 with no hits reported.

8 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 13 sorties, 9.8 flight hours, carrying 33 troops/passengers, in support of 1st and 3rd Marine Divisions and III MAF.  One recon extraction was made at YD790056.

9 Jan 68:  The squadron flew 133 sorties. 38.2 flight hours, carrying 115 troops/passengers
and 33.9 tons of cargo, with four medevac missions carrying 3 emergency, 1 priority and 3 routine evacuees in support of 3rdMarDiv, 5th Marines, III MAF and the ROK Marine Corps.

10 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 100 sorties, 29.2 flight hours, carrying 254 troops/passengers,
13.5 tons of cargo, with one medevac mission carrying 2 emergency evacuees in support of 3rdMarDiv, 1st MarDiv and III MAF.  Mission 60B, composed of two aircraft flew 8 sorties, 2,4 flight hours, carrying 10 troops/ passengers, with one medevac mission carrying two emergency evacuees, one of which was an NVA prisoner, and making one emergency recon extraction at YD246600.  One other NVA prisoner was carried as a passenger.  No enemy fire was received.  Mission 67, with two aircraft, flew 32 sorties, 5.8 flight hours, carrying 116 troops/passengers, making one recon insertion and three recon extractions in support of 3rdMarDiv.

11 Jan 68:   HMM-364 flew 132 sorties, 151.2 flight hours carrying 204 troops/passengers,
8.1 tons of cargo, with seven medevac missions carrying 10 emergency and three priority evacuees in support of 3rdMarDiv, III MAF, and 1stMarDiv.  HMM-364 was scheduled for five recon insertions, but was unable to complete any due to all available crews being utilized
on emergency missions.  Missions 62A and B, consisting of four aircraft flew 26 sorties, 3.7 flight hours, carrying 182 troops/passengers, with one medevac mission carrying one routine evacuee in support of 1stMarDiv.

12 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 127 sorties, 62.8 flight hours, carrying 402 troops/passengers and 25.3 tons of cargo in support of 1stMarDiv, III MAF and ROC Marine Corps.  Two aircraft flew 53 sorties, 11.3 flight hours, carrying 166 troops/ passengers and 2.1 tons of cargo in support of Operation FLYING DRAGON.

13 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 32 sorties, 14.2 flight hours, carrying 96 troops/ passengers, 2.9 tons of cargo, with four medevac missions carrying five emergency evacuees in support of III MAF and 3rdMarDiv.

16 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 73 sorties, 31.8 flight hours, carrying 152 troops/passengers and 38.1 tons of cargo, with three priority medevac in support of III MAF, 3rdMarDiv, 1stMarDiv and I Corps ARVN.  Mission 73, consisting of two aircraft flew 20 sorties, 4.0 flight hours, carrying 40 troops/passengers, making one recon insert, one recon extract and one recon overfly in support of 3rdMarDiv, with enemy fire received but no hits reported and no fire returned.  HMM-364's Marble Mountain Detachment flew 23 sorties, 8.4 flight hours, carrying 33 troops/ passengers, and 1.1 tons of cargo in support of I Corps ARVN and 1stMarDiv.

17 Jan 68:  The squadron flew 63 sorties, 27.9 flight hours, carrying 190 troops/ passengers, 11.5 tons of cargo, with two medevac missions carrying five emergency evacuees in support of I Corps ARVN, III MAF, 1st and 3rd Marine Divisions.

18 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 62 sorties, 26.8 flight hours, carrying 216 troops/passengers and 21.2 tons of cargo in support of 3rdMarDiv and the ROK Marine Corps.  Mission 15 consisting of two aircraft flew 22 sorties, 8.8 flight hours, carrying 130 troops/passengers,
0.4 tons of cargo in support of the ROK Marine Corps.  Automatic weapons fire was received from coordinates BT015570 with no hits reported.

19 Jan 68:  This squadron flew 108 sorties, 48.1 flight hours, carrying 148 troops/ passengers, 31.1 tons of cargo, with eight medevac missions carrying five emergency, one priority and two routine evacuees in support of III MAF, 3rdMarDiv, 1stMarDiv and the ROK Marine Corps.  Mission 29, one aircraft, flew 13 sorties, 2.6 flight hours, carrying 14 troops/passengers and
4.4 tons of cargo in support of 1stMarDiv.  Fire was received at 191443H at coordinates AT903528 with no hits reported and no fire returned.  Mission 79, consisting of two aircraft flew one SAR insert and one SAR extract at YD225275.  No enemy action was reported.

20 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 13 sorties, 22.0 flight hours, carrying 34 troops/passengers, and
1.6 tons of cargo, in support of 3rdMarDiv.

21 Jan 68:  Squadron aircraft flew 75 sorties, 33.5 flight hours, carrying 251 troops and 9.6 tons of cargo with four medevac missions carrying five emergency, one priority and 22 routine evacuees in support of  III MAF and 3rdMarDiv.  Mission 90 with two aircraft flew four sorties, 4.1 flight hours, with two medevac missions carrying 15 routine evcuees and making an emergency resupply of Khe Sanh.  No enemy fire was encountered.  One other medevac mission involving one aircarft flew 2 sorties, 0.5 flight hours carrying 5 emergency and one priority evacuees from Khe Sanh which was under mortar attack at the time.  No hits were received. 

22 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 91 sorties, 55.9 flight hours, carrying 125 troops/passengers and 0.6 tons of cargo. Nineteen medevac missions carried 19 emergency, 4 priority and four routine evacuees in support of III MAF, and 3rdMarDiv.  Mission 82 with two aircraft flew
20 sorties, 8.1 flight hours, carrying 19 troops/ passengers, 0.3 tons of cargo and one emergency resupply at 221315H at coordinates ZC076985.  No enemy fire was received.

23 Jan 68:  This squadron flew 149 sorties, 42.6 flight hours, carrying 705 troops/passengers, 19.9 tons of cargo, in support of 3rdMarDiv and III MAF.  Mission 77E with three aircraft flew 87 sorties, 26.1 flight hours, carrying 617 troops/passengers, 9.3 tons of cargo, making emergency resupply runs to Khe Sanh.  No enemy fire was encountered.

24 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 198 sorties, 64.9 flight hours, carrying 366 troops/passengers 19.9 tons of cargo in support of 3rdMarDiv and III MAF.  Mission 76 with two aircraft flew one SAR recon insertion and one SAR extraction at YD245276.  No enemy action was reported.  Mission 74 consisting of one aircraft engaged in lifting troops in the Darting Star area in northern I Corps received intense enemy automatic weapons fire at coordinates YD078574 resulting in two WIAs.  The aircraft, YK-1, continued with the mission.  Mission 61 consisting of one aircraft engaged in resupply at Khe Sanh received intense automatic weapons fire at 241415H at coordinates XD769441 (Hill 881S0 resulting in a forced landing at Khe Sanh with battle damage and unable to return to Phu Bai.

25 Jan 68:  The squadron flew 64 sorties and 34.2 flight hours, carrying 49 troops/passengers, and 20.3 tons of cargo with four medevac missions carrying 12 routine and 14 priority evacuees in support of 3rdMarDiv and III MAF.  On mission 85, two squadron aircraft flew
64 sorties, 9.2 flight hours, carrying 33 troops/ passengers, 9.9 tons of cargo, with four medevac missions carrying 14 priority and 12 routine evacuees.  Both aircraft received fire.  The first to receive fire was YK-9 and the second was YK-6.  The fire received was believed to be .50 caliber HEI.

26 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 101 sorties, 48.8 flight hours, carrying 313 troops/passengers and 26.3 tons of cargo.  One medevac mission carried one emergency and two priority evacuees in support of 1stMarDiv, 3rdMarDiv and III MAF.  Mission 61 consisting of two aircraft flew 23 sorties, 9.2 flight hours, carrying 11 troops/passengers, 14.4 tons of cargo in support of 3rdMarDiv.  YK-12 received enemy fire at 261700H at coordinates XD778348 (Hill 881S) taking one .50 caliber hit.  No fire was returned.  One recon insert was scheduled and flown at YD870047.  One SAR recon insert was scheduled and flown at YD200280.  Two aircraft flew 6 sorties, 2.6 flight hours, carrying 40 troops/passengers in support of Operation FLYING DRAGON.

20-26 Jan 68:  The HMM-364 detachment flying in support of Marble Mountain during this period flew 227 sorties, 48.3 flight hours, carrying 40 troops/passengers, 61.9 tons of cargo with five medevac missions carrying two emergency and 10 routine evacuees in support of 1st Force Recon, 1stMarDiv, III MAF, ROK Marine Corps and I Corps ARVN.

27 Jan 68:  The squadron flew 167 sorties, 57.2 flight hours, carrying 237 troops, 32.4 tons of cargo with three medevac missions carrying 25 priority evacuees in support of 1stMarDiv, 3rdMarDiv and III MAF.  Mission 61 with one aircraft flew 15 sorties, 6.0 flight hours, carrying 32 troops/passengers, 1.8 tons of cargo in support of 3rdMarDiv.  Fire was received at 271320H at Khe Sanh.  One mortar shrapnel hit was received.  The same aircraft, YK-11, again received fire at 271355H from coordinates XD773439 (Hill 881S).  One other aircraft flew 36 sorties, 9.1 flight hours, carrying 27 troops/passengers, 17.6 tons of cargo with five emergency evacuees.  Enemy fire received at 271334H from coordinates XD777438 (Hill 881S) with no hits reported.  One aircraft flew 12 sorties, 4.3 flight hours, carrying one troop/passenger in support of 3rdMarDiv.  Fire was received at 271745H from YD045575 with one hit reported.  Fire in the amount of 200 rounds of 7.62mm was returned.

28 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 169 sorties, 34.3 flight hours, carrying 454 troops/passengers and 36.9 tons of cargo.  Four medevac missions carried one emergency, three priority and two routine evacuees in support of 3rdMarDiv, III MAF, and the ROK Marine Corps.  Three aircraft flew 52 sorties, 18.0 flight hours, carrying 262 troops/passengers, one dog and 13.2 tons of cargo in support of Operation FLYING DRAGON.  No enemy fire was reported.  Mission 61A consisting of two aircraft flew 60 sorties, 13.2 flight hours, carrying 16 troops/passengers with two medevac missions carrying one emergency and two routine evacuees.  The aircraft received fire on three occasions while at Khe Sanh with no hits reported and no fire returned.

29 Jan 68:  The squadron flew 151 sortie, 43.1 flight hours, carrying 130 troops/passengers, 51.8 tons of cargo, with one medevac mission carrying three routine evacuees in support of Operation SCOTLAND, 1stMarDiv and III MAF.  Mission 61B, one aircraft, flew 25 sorties, 7.7 flight hours, carrying four troops/passengers, 12.5 tons of cargo and one medevac mission carrying three routine evacuees in support of Operation SCOTLAND and 3rdMarDiv.  The aircraft received fire at 291144H from coordinates XD778438 (Hill 881S) with one round of .50 caliber EH entering the aircraft and lodging in the copilot's seat.  No injuries were reported and no fire was returned.

30 Jan 68:  HMM-364 flew 134 sorties, 23.9 flight hours, carrying 102 troops/passengers,
36.4 tons of cargo.  One medevac mission carried one emergency  evacuee in support of 3rdMarDiv and III MAF.  Mission 61C/99 consisting of two aircraft flew 104 sorties, 14.1
flight hours, carrying 71 troops/passengers and 29.5 tons of cargo.  Enemy mortar fire was received at 301150H at coordinates XD847419 (Hill 950) with no hits reported.  Mission 76F consisting of two aircraft flew 15 sorties, 4.9 flight hours, carrying 3.5 tons of cargo in support of Operations SCOTLAND and LANCASTER.  Enemy mortar fire was received at 301150H at coordinates XD847419 (Hill 950) with no hits reported.

31 Jan 68:  The squadron flew 130 sorties, 47.2 flight hours, carrying 80 troops/passengers, 59.8 tons of cargo and one medevac mission carrying 21 emergency and 21 priority evacuees in support of Operation SCOTLAND, 1stMarDiv, 3rdMarDiv, III MAF and I Corps ARVN.  Mission 84, three aircraft, flew 27 sorties, 12.8 flight hours, carrying 33 troops/passengers,
17.5 tons of cargo and 12 emergency and 21 priority evacuees.  Fire was received with no hits reported and 150 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition returned.  Mission 53, one aircraft, flew 17 sorties, 6.4 flight hours, carrying 10.5 tons of cargo in support of Operation SCOTLAND.  Fire was received at 311335H at coordinates XD778438 with one hit from a .50 caliber weapon reported and approximately 200 rounds of 7.62mm ammunition expended.  Another Mission 53 aircraft flew 22 sorties, 6.4 flight hours, carrying four troops/ passengers and 14.1 tons of cargo in support of Operation SCOTLAND received fire twice.  Once at 311221 at coordinates XD802442 (Hill 861) and at 311335H at coordinates XD778438 (Hill 881S) with no hits reported and no fire returned.

26-31 Jan 68:  The Marble Mountain Detachment flew 121 sorties, 39.1 flight hours, carrying 31.5 tons of cargo, and 477 troops/passengers in support of III MAF, 7th Marines, Operation FLYING DRAGON, MAG-16 and the ROK Marine Corp.
